This role is designed for a high-agency engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of product vision, technical execution, and AI-driven innovation. You will act as a key technical partner to founders and cross-functional teams, translating ambitious and often ambiguous product ideas into clear, executable engineering plans. Operating across backend, frontend, mobile, AI, and data systems, you will help shape both the architecture and the execution strategy behind a fast-evolving consumer platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where deep technical problem-solving is as important as strategic thinking and coordination. You will be expected to unblock complex engineering challenges, elevate engineering standards, and accelerate delivery in a fast-paced startup environment. The culture is highly AI-native, emphasizing speed, experimentation, and continuous learning.
You will lead cross-functional technical execution across multiple product and infrastructure domains, ensuring that engineering efforts are aligned, scalable, and delivered with high quality. You will serve as a bridge between product vision and engineering reality, driving clarity, structure, and momentum across teams.
- Lead end-to-end technical execution across backend, frontend, mobile, AI, and data initiatives
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into structured technical plans, milestones, and engineering ownership
- Drive resolution of complex technical challenges by diving deep into systems and architecture
- Collaborate closely with founders, product managers, designers, and engineers on technical strategy and decision-making
- Coordinate cross-domain engineering workstreams and remove execution blockers to maintain delivery speed
- Raise engineering standards across performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Define hiring needs, technical evaluation frameworks, and interview standards for engineering roles
- Help build and promote AI-native engineering workflows to improve productivity and innovation
You bring strong software engineering experience combined with leadership across complex, multi-domain technical initiatives. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, making high-impact technical decisions, and using modern AI tools to accelerate engineering execution.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale technical initiatives across teams or product areas
- Background in technical leadership roles such as Tech Lead, Engineering Lead, Staff Engineer, Head of Engineering, CTO, or Engineering Manager
- Strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to work across backend, frontend, mobile, and data systems
- Experience using AI tools to enhance development speed, decision-making, and technical exploration
- Ability to translate unclear or evolving product goals into clear execution plans
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High ownership mindset with the ability to operate in fast-paced startup environments
- Preferred: experience with AI agents, LLM systems, recommendation engines, experimentation, or data pipelines
- Preferred: experience building consumer-facing or social products, or working in high-growth VC-backed startups
- Preferred: experience hiring and defining technical standards for engineering teams
