A Little About Us
CompareNetworks is a leading global media company for the engineering, life science, laboratory equipment, and pharmaceutical industries. Founded by scientists, CompareNetworks is a leading provider of online B2B marketplaces for the scientific and healthcare industries. Through multiple brands and a range of products and services, CompareNetworks connects businesses and professionals with the knowledge and resources they need to succeed.
GlobalSpec, a CompareNetworks brand, is a trusted provider of data-driven industrial marketing solutions. We help companies in the industrial space promote their products and grow their businesses. Every day we provide critical information through our newsletters, webinars and websites to engineers and other technical professionals across the world that keeps them informed and enables comprehensive discovery of industrial parts so that they can solve today’s complex engineering challenges.
About You
You see manufacturing as a beat, not a backdrop, and you bring a journalist's instinct for the story hiding inside a spec sheet. You ask good questions, chase down the answers and know the difference between a source who sounds credible and one who actually is. You write clearly, edit ruthlessly and hold your own work - and your freelancers' work - to the same standard. You're just as comfortable interviewing an engineer on the plant floor as you are stepping in front of a camera or microphone to represent the brand. You track what your audience is reading and use that insight to shape what comes next, without losing sight of the craft. You're curious about where AI tools can make you faster, but you never let them replace judgment or voice. Above all, you like being the person people turn to when they want to understand what's actually happening in electronics manufacturing today.
The Position
The Group Editor, Electronics, is responsible for producing and managing high-quality editorial content that serves engineering and industrial audiences across GlobalSpec's Electronics vertical. Reporting to the GobalSpec Editorial Director, this individual functions as the subject matter authority -translating complex technical topics into compelling, accurate narratives for digital editorial strategies and multimedia audiences.
This role demands serious editorial craftsmanship: strong writing, sharp editing, sound information literacy and perhaps most importantly, genuine curiosity. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing not as a background but as a beat- one they approach with the rigor of a journalist and the fluency of someone who has spent time close to the technology.
The Group Editor will also manage freelance contributors, monitor audience and industry trends and serve as a recognizable voice and face for the brand.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100-$120k, with final compensation determined by factors including experience, qualifications, location, and overall fit for the role. The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
