Reporting to the Head of IT, this role will provide day-to-day IT support while also administering and troubleshooting core infrastructure across cloud, server, identity, endpoint, networking, and business application environments.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical generalist who can independently resolve a broad range of issues, support employees at all levels of the organization, and recognize when complex engineering, architectural, security, or business-impacting matters should be escalated. This position will serve as the primary on-site IT resource for the Kirkland office and will work closely with the Head of IT and Senior Systems Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on Help Desk and end-user support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, account, authentication, VPN, connectivity, printer, peripheral, and business application issues.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including workstation deployment, account provisioning and deprovisioning, MFA enrollment, equipment management, and access fulfillment in accordance with approved procedures.
- Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, permissions, and related Windows infrastructure.
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and resources, primarily within AWS, including compute, storage, identity and access management, backups and snapshots, logging, permissions, and common networking components.
- Administer and support enterprise productivity, identity and access management, endpoint security and management, IT service management, communications, password management, VPN/remote-access, Microsoft, and other approved business platforms.
- Support corporate networking and remote access, including VPNs, firewalls, routing, DNS, DHCP, and connectivity troubleshooting; implement approved configuration changes through established change-management procedures.
- Maintain endpoint security, patching, software deployment, and configuration compliance across Windows and macOS devices; assist with vulnerability remediation and security-related operational tasks.
- Monitor systems, backups, snapshots, and infrastructure health; investigate alerts, service interruptions, backup failures, and performance issues, and assist with recovery and disaster recovery activities.
- Provide infrastructure-level support for production and business-critical systems, coordinate with Engineering when issues span application and infrastructure layers, and escalate complex engineering-level issues to the Senior Systems Engineer.
- Maintain accurate tickets, technical documentation, runbooks, system records, and change records; use PowerShell or other scripting and automation where appropriate to improve repeatability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity risks and technology trends, including the potential impact of artificial intelligence on phishing, social engineering, data protection, and other cyber threats.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- 3–5+ years of progressively responsible IT experience with meaningful systems administration responsibilities.
- Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory; working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, IAM, SSO/MFA, endpoint security, patch management, backup/recovery, and PowerShell or similar scripting.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts and experience administering cloud infrastructure; hands-on AWS experience is strongly preferred.
- General awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats and the ways artificial intelligence may affect organizational security, including AI-assisted phishing and social engineering, data leakage, and risks associated with the use of generative AI tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, prioritization, and communication skills; ability to work independently, provide professional end-user support, collaborate with technical teams, and appropriately escalate higher-risk or engineering-level issues.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS, Microsoft, CompTIA, or ISC2 are beneficial.
