About the Role:

The Scheduling position within the manufacturing industry is pivotal to ensuring the seamless coordination of production activities to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization. This role involves developing, maintaining, and adjusting production schedules to align with inventory levels, workforce availability, and equipment capacity. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with production teams, supply chain personnel, and management to anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts, minimizing downtime and maximizing throughput. By effectively managing timelines and priorities, the scheduler contributes directly to on-time delivery performance and overall operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role supports the manufacturing process by balancing competing demands and facilitating smooth workflow across multiple departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in production scheduling or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software (SAGE) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations management, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience with advanced scheduling tools such as APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools to support decision-making.
  • Certification in production and inventory management (CPIM) or similar credentials.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, material availability, and production capacity.
  • Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and resources.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules proactively to address delays, equipment issues, or workforce constraints.
  • Communicate schedule changes and updates to relevant stakeholders to maintain alignment and transparency.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing scheduling insights and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the scheduling process.

Skills:

The required skills enable the scheduler to efficiently develop and adjust production plans by leveraging scheduling software and ERP systems, ensuring alignment with operational constraints and customer requirements. Strong organizational skills help manage complex timelines and prioritize tasks to prevent production delays. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with diverse teams and conveying schedule changes clearly and promptly.
