Job Summary:

The Dialysis Charge Registered Nurse (RN) performs under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. The RN ensures appropriate provision of dialysis services and treatments within assigned unit by coordinating, scheduling and directing staff by performing acute treatments as needed or directed by Medical Director and Director of Nursing. The RN assumes the provision of quality patient care to all hospitalized patients in the most efficient manner in accordance with hospital policies, as well as regulations set forth by the state and federal agencies.

• Consistently follows patient care and FH/MGH policy, procedures, and standards of care in preforming nursing duties.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and to assess and intervene appropriately when patient condition deteriorates and requires immediate intervention; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
• Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports, and verbal communication. Communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members.
• Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, and certifications required.
• Demonstrates the technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used on medical surgical units including but not limited, telemetry monitoring devices, hemodialysis equipment, and specialty beds.
• Acts as a subject matter expert and resource for staff members on assigned inpatient treatments.
• Coordinate and schedule direct patient care staff to provide coverage of dialysis treatments and ensure efficient patient scheduling and staff utilization.
• Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, safety, and compliance standards.
• Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for the unit’s population by rendering professional nursing care.
• Perform quality assessment and improvement program audits, as directed to ensure the provision of quality patient care and compliance with all CMS requirements.
• Perform acute treatments and oversee all dialysis related medical and emergency functions.
• Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care, educates patient and family about diagnosis, treatments or prescribed medical regimen and medications in accordance with patient and family readiness and ability to learn.
• Coordinate with appropriate technical staff to ensure preventative maintenance program for routine machine maintenance, to ensure the timely repair or disabled machines, to coordinate infection control measures, routine water culturing, water testing, logging of results, transportation of equipment and supplies, and communicate to technical information to staff.
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills and uses professional judgement to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur, and prevention of complications in patients.
• Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies in a cost-efficient manner, ensuring that patients are discharged in a timely manner, and keeping incremental overtime to a minimum.
• Demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions with patients, visitors, co-workers, employees and non-employees.
• Performs all duties as assigned by Director of Nursing including staffing other areas under job descriptions for 2607RN, 1307RN, and 1077RN.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.

Work Experience:

One year dialysis nursing care preferred, but not required.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

• Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
