About This RoleNORESCO is seeking a Senior Analyst I to join our Building Codes and Standards Team to execute technical research and analysis, provide education and training, and support clients in the development of code language, code adoption, code feasibility and enforceability initiatives, and implementation of new code measures related to energy efficiency, sustainability and resiliency. This individual should have proven expertise and skills specific to the building industry, proven technical writing skills- code writing skills are a plus- strong written and oral communication, and the ability to prepare and coordinate a variety of staff and client materials. Aptitude for and experience with client management, juggling multiple deliverables, and good time management are required.
The Senior Analyst I will execute project activities that are technical and detail-oriented; provide robust analysis and background research documents, create and deliver education and outreach activities virtually and in person. This position is fully remote, but candidates must be located in Colorado, and able to report to the Westminster, Colorado Office occasionally. Some travel (10-15%) will be required, based on client locations and in-person training schedules.
As a member of the Sustainability Group within the NORESCO organization, you will execute multiple tasks on various projects in coordination with other Building Codes and standards team members, and will report to the Compliance Improvement Senior Project Manager. The person selected to fill this position shall have knowledge of building science, building permit processes, energy-efficient technologies, the building industry, and Colorado building and energy codes.

As a member of NORESCO’s Building Codes and Standards team, you will have broad impact on many state and local energy codes as well as on national energy codes, specifically Colorado, California, New York, and others. Role and Responsibilities
- Provide technical analysis of code language and potential measures, and their impact on permitted projects
- Develop technical content for tools and resources needed for energy code implementation and compliance
- Provide technical review of other’s analysis, code language, and strategic guidance to clients, collaborators, and team members
- Provide clear and well-written memorandums and reports to various clients (investor-owned utilities, state energy offices, building owners, architects, engineers, etc.) regarding energy policy and other technical analyses
- Ensure technical quality and accurate technical content of project-related documents and provide review of deliverables
- Present energy efficiency training and education sessions, either virtually or in-person
- Meet and contact clients as appropriate to discuss methods, and present results and recommendations
- Perform technical and coordination tasks (code language, training, resources, and tool development) with minimal oversight
- Communication with others on the team regarding current workload, project updates, potential obstacles, opportunities for innovation, and specific project deadlines on contracted work is required
- Occasional business travel to meet with team members, clients, attend conferences, and conduct project work
- 15+ years’ experience in building industry or 10+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree
- Detailed knowledge of the International Energy Efficiency Code (IECC)
- Knowledge of the building delivery process and permitting process
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Be comfortable and engaging delivering technical content to a wide variety of audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field.
- Advanced understanding of Title 24, ASHRAE Standard 90.1, and other building codes, energy codes, reach codes, and standards.
- Expertise in building systems including envelope, mechanical, electrical, and controls.
- Technical expertise in resiliency measures including building features, embodied carbon, fire hardening, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to write code language, technical reports, papers, and provide presentations to knowledgeable audiences.
- Working knowledge of and experience with the architectural design process and all phases of design and construction from pre-design to construction administration.
- Familiarity with design and collaboration tools such as Revit, InDesign, Canva, and Miro/Whiteboard, are a plus.
