Job Description
Position Summary:
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and organizing incoming materials, ensuring efficient and accurate handling, storage, and distribution. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, maintaining a well-organized workspace, and adhering to the principle that there is a place for everything and everything should be in its place. Additionally, the Receiving Clerk will implement the first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory method to optimize inventory management and minimize waste.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall Organization:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free receiving area.
- Ensure all materials are promptly and accurately labeled and stored in designated locations.
- Regularly review and update storage locations to maximize space efficiency and accessibility.
- Implement and uphold organizational systems that support the principle of a place for everything and everything in its place.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure proper placement and organization.
First-In, First-Out (FIFO):
- Implement the FIFO method for all inventory items to ensure older stock is used before newer stock.
- Track and document the dates of receipt for all materials to facilitate FIFO practices.
- Regularly monitor inventory levels and rotation to prevent the expiration or obsolescence of materials.
- Train and supervise staff on FIFO procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy.
Self-Motivation:
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and take initiative without constant supervision.
- Proactively identify and address potential issues in the receiving and inventory process.
- Continuously seek ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in handling and organizing materials.
- Set personal goals and strive to achieve them, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.
Additional Duties:
- Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Inspect materials for damage and report any discrepancies to the appropriate department.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely and efficient distribution of materials.
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving or inventory management role preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Hours / Environment
- Permanent schedule will be on 3rd shift (10:25pm-7:05am)
Training Completion Bonus:
- $1.25/hour increase after training certification
