Job Summary

As a Network Engineer I, you will be a core team member delivering digital business transformation solutions to our clients. You will assist in the day-to-day administration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our cloud and on-premises network infrastructure while learning from senior engineers. In this role, you will also leverage modern AI platforms including Claude AI to accelerate scripting, streamline technical documentation, and assist with network operations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists in configuring, maintaining, and monitoring local, metropolitan, and wide area networks.
• Supports department staff in maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and cloud networks.
• Assists senior engineers in implementing network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, signaling links, and protocols into complete configurations.
• Leverages Claude AI and generative AI tools to assist in drafting network scripts, summarizing system logs, and producing technical runbooks.
• Actively builds and maintains positive relationships with internal user communities and vendors to understand business needs.
• Performs, documents, and communicates basic network health checks, routine installations, and performance evaluations.
• Supports department staff in the analysis, solution, and documentation of network issues and tickets.
• Escalates complex errors or high-impact incidents to senior team members for advanced resolution.
• Learns and adheres to department network design policies, standards, and security procedures.
• Actively solicits feedback and guidance on best practices from management and senior engineers.
• Continually enhances knowledge of network engineering concepts and company standards for professional growth.
• Contributes to existing technical documentation, runbooks, and educational content based on system updates and user feedback.
• Triages initial product or system issues by analyzing basic log sources and assessing the impact on hardware, network, or service quality.
• Tracks all work time accurately across assigned tickets and projects.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Foundational understanding of physical architecture, interconnect firewalls, and basic setup procedures.
• Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Networking concepts and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with using Claude AI (or similar AI assistants) for code/script generation, query building, and technical troubleshooting.
• Ability to assist in creating, reviewing, and updating basic network diagrams and documentation in Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with setting up and maintaining VPN connections between on-premises and cloud (GCP) environments.
• Basic understanding of external hub-and-spoke ingress/egress configurations.
• General knowledge of Google DNS services, subnets, shared VPCs, and load balancers.
• Basic exposure to or interest in working with Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Diligent time-tracking habits across projects and ticketing tools.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience/certifications).
• 0–2 years of hands-on experience in cloud, server, or network administration.
• Practical exposure to utilizing Claude AI or equivalent AI tools within standard engineering workflows preferred.
• Basic exposure to shared VPCs, firewalls, subnets, VPN tunneling, and load balancing.
• Entry-level cloud or network certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, or CCNA) are a plus.
