Job Summary:
This position is responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers through the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for our military vehicles. It will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including other functional engineering groups, production, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure that all electrical system designs meet or exceed industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
· Lead the Electrical Engineering team: mentoring and developing team skills, coaching for success, possess a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the team including staying up to date with the latest advances in electrical system design and testing.
· Conduct detailed analysis of the electrical system requirements and specifications to ensure that all design objectives are met, including safety, reliability, performance, and cost.
· Design and develop electrical system architectures, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and control diagrams, using state-of-the-art design software and tools.
· Conduct electrical system modeling and simulation using advanced software tools, such as MATLAB and Simulink, to optimize system performance and identify potential issues before they occur.
· Participate in cross-functional design reviews and ensure that all design requirements are met in accordance with project timelines and budgets.
· Provide technical guidance and support to the production team to ensure that all electrical components are properly installed, tested, and validated.
· Develop and implement design verification plans and test procedures to ensure that all electrical system designs meet or exceed industry standards and regulations.
· Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to ensure that all electrical components are sourced and delivered on time and meet or exceed quality standards.
· Participate in the development and implementation of new technologies and best practices in electrical system design and testing.
· Perform programming and diagnostics with vehicle application tools, including CANalyzer, Diamond Logic Builder (DLB), Navistar Engine Diagnostics (NEDs), Parker IQAN, Bendix ACOM Pro, Cummins Insite, Allison Doc, TCM Reflash, and Wabco Toolbox.
Qualifications:
· BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
· Possess at least 10+ years of experience in electrical system design and testing.
· Possess AI, ML, and analytics or firmware experience that can aid in black box trouble shooting.
· Possess a deep understanding of electrical system design and analysis, strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and develop effective solutions.
· Have experience with developing and maintaining Design Verification Plan & Reports/Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DVP&s/DFMEAs)
· Be familiar with industry standards and regulations governing electrical system design and testing, including MIL-STD and IEEE standards.
· Have a strong understanding of electronic components and systems, including sensors, switches, and control systems, and be able to integrate these components into larger electrical systems.
· Have experience in using advanced software tools, such as MATLAB and Simulink, for electrical system modeling and simulation, and be engaged with the latest technologies in electrical system design and testing.
· Preferred experience in the defense industry and familiarity with military specifications and requirements for electrical systems. Experience with implementing autonomous vehicle systems into commercial or military vehicles is a plus.
· Preferred experience addressing automotive cyber security requirements on existing and future platforms.
· Vehicle electrification experience, hybrid or full battery electric is a plus.
