About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Transportation Aide transports patients to and from ED and nursing areas to the Radiology department for procedures. Assists radiologic technologists and department supervisors by performing a variety of administrative and patient care activities. Receives and transports patients, and answers questions regarding procedures. Prepares the imaging room and equipment for x-ray examinations and assists technologist with procedures as needed. Performs related clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and maintaining patient records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains a positive work environment by demonstrating positive interpersonal relations with co-workers, physicians, patients, and others.
- Transports in-patients from nursing units to Radiology for procedures and back to units after procedures, following hospital policies and protocols regarding the transportation of patients.
- Transports emergency department patients from the ED to Radiology for procedures and back to the ED after procedures, following hospital policies and protocols regarding the transportation of patients.
- Escorts and assists outpatients as necessary.
- Cleans examination rooms and dressing rooms.
- Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to the technologist or RN.
- Orders and restocks supplies.
- Performs clerical tasks.
- Assists with the collection and transport of specimens.
- Assists technologists and radiologists with radiology procedures as directed.
- Checks transport equipment daily and reports any malfunctions immediately to supervisor/biomed.
- Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient care and relations information.
- Actively participates in Customer/Guest Relations and Mandatory Education programs.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- License
- Certifications required

- Experience
- 6 months in medical environment preferred
