About This Position
Sound Generations, a leading nonprofit serving older adults and people with disabilities in King County, seeks a strategic, mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and manage our financial strategy. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will ensure the fiscal health and sustainability of our multi-site, mixed-funding organization with an annual budget supported by approximately 120 government contracts.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with the CEO, Board, and Executive Team to lead financial planning and strategy.
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, audits, and compliance with GAAP and federal/state regulations.
- Provide timely, accurate financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Supervise and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Manage banking relationships, fiscal risk management, and reporting for Sound Generations and associated senior centers.
- Champion continuous improvement in systems, processes, and reporting.
- Oversee complex government funding and audits namely single, financial, and funders reviews.
- Support equity-focused financial stewardship and build strong relationships with diverse community partners.
- Share opportunities for equity-based budgeting practices that promote transparency and resource distribution as allowed outside funder constraints.
Pay Range: $190,000 – 220,000 per year.
Work Schedule: Monday Through Friday, 40 hours per week.

You enjoy translating numbers into insights, optimizing fiscal process systems, and helping teams make smart, data-informed decisions. You are:
- A strategic thinker with strong finance experience, with an eye for aligning fiscal management with the organizational mission and values with steadfast efforts on budget and operations.
- Adept at managing complexity, including federal and local contracts, audits, and compliance.
- A collaborative partner who supports program and operational teams in understanding the financial landscape and co-creating sustainable solutions.
- A leader who values coaching, development, and team culture.
- Detail-orientation, with high integrity and a sense of urgency when it matters.
- Comfortable with systems and eager to evaluate, modernize, streamline and strengthen financial processes.
- Skilled in forecasting and scenario planning to help the organization navigate change and plan for long-term sustainability.
- An inclusive communicator who builds trust across diverse internal and external audiences through translation of complex financial information
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred)
- 5+ years in finance leadership; 7+ years in financial supervision
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and government funding and accounting a plus
- Proven track record with fiscal planning, risk management, and internal and external audit preparation and management
- Advanced Excel skills and fluency in financial systems; Salesforce, MIP and Power BI familiarity a plus
