Job Information
  • Job Title: Deburr Technician

Role Purpose

The Deburr Technician is responsible for operating automated, semi-automated, and manual equipment to remove burrs, create countersinks, produce line-grain finishes, tap holes, stamp metal parts, and perform finishing operations in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company workmanship standards. This role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring finished parts meet quality and cosmetic requirements prior to shipment or downstream processing.

Scope & ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
  • Review work orders to ensure all prior operations have been completed and properly signed off before beginning work
  • Select appropriate equipment, tooling, and finishing methods based on work order and engineering specifications
  • Deburr, grind, sand, polish, and hand-finish parts using established procedures, machines, and hand tools
  • Smooth edges and finish metal parts according to customer, engineering, and workmanship requirements
  • Produce first-piece samples and submit them to supervisors for approval prior to production release
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to verify parts conform to specifications and documentation requirements
  • Produce final-piece samples for supervisor approval upon completion of production runs
  • Operate a variety of deburring and finishing tools, including electric and pneumatic tools such as right-angle grinders, orbital sanders, tumblers, sandblasting equipment, and hand tools
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing specifications
  • Perform rework assignments and corrective finishing operations as required
  • Maintain accurate production records, timekeeping, and job tracking information within the company database system
  • Ensure all production paperwork and quality documentation are completed accurately and timely
  • Notify supervisors immediately of damaged tools, equipment issues, or safety concerns
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions
  • Support cross-functional manufacturing operations and perform other duties as assigned based on business needs
Work Experience & SkillsEducation
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, machining, or metal finishing preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of deburring, metal finishing, or related manufacturing experience preferred
  • 3+ years of aerospace or precision manufacturing experience highly desirable
Skills / Knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation
  • Ability to use standard machine shop tools, measuring devices, and finishing equipment
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Familiarity with sheet metal finishing and deburring processes
  • Ability to learn procedures through written documentation and hands-on training
  • Ability to load and unload machines safely after training
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English proficiency required
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related materials and information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, management, and customer representatives

Working Conditions & Physical RequirementsWorking Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily on a manufacturing floor
  • Exposure to noise, dust, metal shavings, vibration, and industrial equipment
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements required
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds regularly
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand coordination required for precision finishing tasks
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing conditions
