Job Description
As a Mining Intern at AstroForge, you’ll work on the conceptual design and simulation of applying our technology to terrestrial mining processes. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a background in traditional mining engineering to apply those principles in a completely new domain.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Must be a rising senior.
- Understanding of mineral processing, extraction, and refining.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills.
- Must not be otherwise employed for the duration of the internship.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
Responsibilities
- Support system design for refining and material processing hardware.
- Analyze mining equipment performance and material extraction processes.
- Conduct literature reviews and comparative studies on mining techniques in extreme environments. Collaborate with optics, thermal, and mechanical engineers to shape hardware development.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with mining simulation software or CAD tools.
- Interest in space resource utilization or in-situ resource processing.
- Experience with high-temperature or vacuum processing is a plus.
Location: Onsite in Seal Beach, CA
Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
Duration: 10 weeks
ITAR Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
