All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and ECHN Manchester Memorial Hospital in Critical Care.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect patient –centered care. Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Communicates, as appropriate, the patient’s clinical condition, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Eligibility:
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse License
- BSN preferred.
- Two years of hospital experience in a health care organization within the past two years in critical care
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Cannot be currently employed at Waterbury Hospital or ECHN.
Orientation:
- Clinical orientation must be completed within 30 days of hospital orientation.
Continuing Education:
- Employees are required to successfully complete all hospitals’ mandatory education.
- It is the employee’s responsibility to complete and return all continuing education documents, i.e. certificates/forms by the posted due date to document knowledge of recent changes.
Work Requirement:

- A minimum of 24 hours per month, this includes (1) 12-hour weekend shift (weekend starts Friday 11pm- 7am Monday).
- A maximum of 102 hours per month will be permitted.
- May float to medical-surgical unit, telemetry, or step down if indicated.
- All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and ECHN Manchester Memorial Hospital in Critical Care.
- The Central Scheduling Office will notify employee via the provided phone number if there is a need to change the assigned facility prior to the start of the shift. Employee will be notified of any change 2 hours prior to the start of the shift.

Holiday Commitment:
- Employees are required to work (1) 12-hour holiday under Group A; and (1) date under Group B, per year, to meet the holiday commitment.
