About This Position

Description:

We are searching for a collaborative, and empathetic mentor for our Housing Coach opening. As our Housing Coach, you will guide youth, ages sixteen to twenty-four, toward safe affordable housing and independent living. Bringing a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, you will assist participants with goals that directly impact their long-term housing such as gaining employment, finishing school, reading leases, and being good tenants. Simultaneously, you will ensure basic needs including mental and physical health are met. You will accomplish this by:

  • Developing and reviewing individualized service plans with and for participants,
  • Meeting participants in their home to teach basic household skills and budgeting,
  • Inspect participant homes for safe and clean-living environments,
  • Mediating conflicts that arise in response to shared living,
  • Transporting participants as needed, and
  • Documenting case notes in multiple data base systems daily.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in either sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, education or other related field OR two years of experience in public or private human services, of which one year must be mental health direct care experience.
  • A combination of education, training, work experience and/or lived experience will be considered. If, in good faith, you believe that you have the experience to succeed in this position, please apply!
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other social service providers and government agencies.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule within a 40-hour work week as program needs dictate.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, $15,000/$30,000 bodily liability car insurance, and a qualifying motor vehicle record history.
  • Must be able to obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances.
  • Provide a certificate of or be able to complete Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training.
