Overview
The Materials Division of H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an Aggregate and Asphalt Quality Control technician primarily responsible for collecting and testing samples of aggregate and asphalt to ensure quality standards and specifications are met. Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policiesFollow and assure compliance with quality control plansSample and test materials following standard practices and quality plansMaintain test records and assure compliance with company and agency specificationsMaintain a clean, organized work environmentRead and follow H&K Group employee handbook protocol and proceduresCalibrate and maintain test equipment to standardsEstablish and maintain lines of communication with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervisionWork with sales team to address customer issuesGenerate reports and communicate results and trends to the quality control team and H&K employeesOther duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- Strong work ethic and organizational skillsAlgebra-level math to perform AASHTO and ASTM procedure calculations Rudimentary ability to use computers, spreadsheets, word processorsAble to work in a team or independently as neededTime managementValid driver’s licenseReliable transportationAttainment of NECEPT technician qualification within 18 months of hireAbility to meet standards of PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, the FAA, and other recognized authoritiesAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institutionPrevious experience working with aggregates and bituminous materialsNECEPT bituminous plant and aggregate certificationExperience in construction materials production or useBasic knowledge of crushing and asphalt plants
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, or hear
- Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
- Occasionally exposed to moving, mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Frequently work with materials up to 300F
- Hours vary by project and may include overtime, nights, and weekends
