Coordinates all activities related to procurement, processing, inventory, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment for Perioperative Services. Provides Central Processing services for ancillary support areas as needed. Assists CSPD leadership with CSPD staffing and training initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Orients new staff within all areas of the department.
• Maintains current knowledge of sterilization methods and instrument care.
• Has knowledge of use and care of specialty care instruments and equipment– cardiac, neuro, endoscopes etc.
• Assists SPD leadership with instrument inventory and ensures instrument trays are up and operational.
• Assists with documentation of sterilization records and recalls on all positive biological readings
• Serves as a liaison between CSPD and OR education.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• At least two years of sterile processing experience, performing all sterile processing functions within an operative setting.
• Must be knowledgeable in the following:

Sterilization practices.

Knowledge of AAMI standards.

Knowledge and skills to effectively train new staff.

Knowledge of endoscope processes.

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
