About This Position
Performs dental hygiene procedures applies topical fluorides, examines teeth and instructs patients on proper dental care.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
• Under General Supervision
•Perform all duties assigned to dental assistants and registered dental assistants
under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
•Root Planing
•Polish and contour restorations
•Oral exfoliative cytology
•Apply pit and fissure sealants
•Preliminary examination, including but not limited to:
i. Periodontal charting
ii. Intra and extra-oral examination of soft tissue
iii. Charting of lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth
iv. Classifying occlusion
v. Myofunctional evaluation
• Under Direct Supervision
a. Periodontal soft tissue curettage (evidence of satisfactory completion of board–
approved course required).
b. Administration of local anesthetic agents, infiltration and conductive, limited to
the oral cavity (evidence of satisfactory completion of board–approved course
required).
c. Administration of nitrous oxide and oxygen when used as an analgesic utilizing
fail safe type machines containing no other general anesthetics (evidence of
satisfactory completion of board–approved course required).
Other duties as assigned.

through participation in educational opportunities
•Adherence to all Dientes’ ethical and professional standards, including Dientes
policies and procedures.
Education and/or Experience
Required:
• Must possess valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist from the Dental Board
of California.
• Computer literate and have experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Possession of up-to-date CPR certification and completion of yearly OSHA training.
Preferred:
• 2+ years experience preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• Experience with children
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
• Willingness to be trained and have the ability to retain information of the assigned
duties and responsibilities listed in this job description
• Strong organizational skills and technical acumen to carry out assigned duties.
• High attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Superior customer service /patient care skills
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with demonstrated
dedication to excellence. Personal integrity manifested in a positive and credible
image
• Established comfort working with diverse cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles and
experiences
