Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator in Gardena, California at Davis Trucking, LLC

Job Summary:

The Warehouse Associate is dedicated to maintaining a clean and organized warehouse while ensuring the safety of drivers and our customers’ valued freight. This role requires constant movement and operation of a forklift to move heavy shipments. This position requires constant monitoring of potential danger or threats to safety and performing actions to prevent damage or injury. It is the responsibility of the warehouse associate to efficiently load and unload trucks, and consult manifests to ensure the accuracy of goods received or shipped. The warehouse associate’s purpose is to protect our customers’ assets and act as a safeguard to reduce the company’s financial expenses.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Safely load/unload freight from trucks
• Assist drivers in locating freight
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse
• Arrange shipments according to destination
• Stage freight that is to be recovered from the dock or scheduled to delivery early AM next day
• Operate a forklift to safely move freight
• Weigh, measure, and package freight
• Shrink wrap, and securely band freight to pallets
• Advise supervisor of any damaged/missing freight or discrepancies
• Maintain detailed inventories of freight
• Sweep warehouse
• Take out trash from offices and break room
• Set or disarm alarm
• Ensure sensors, alarms, doors are working properly
• Act in compliance with safety regulations

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Ability/license to operate a forklift
• Ability to prioritize tasks

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Forklift experience (1 year)
• Forklift certification

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift
• Must be able to lift/push up to 25 pounds at times
