The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion MultiPurpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Provide Operations support for complex Command and Control systems is required. Non-trivial experience with advisory systems.
Provide set systems administration and configuration control of released products from the design/development organization.
Launch Control System interface with the Space Launch System Test Team during spacecraft processing and launch countdown.
Provide Operations and Systems Administration of products in support of Engineers processing Ground and Flight equipment in support of the Space Launch System.
Strong background in Linux is required.
Must be able follow complex procedures and pay attention to detail.
Ability to work in a high stress "launch countdown" environment
May require travel to other NASA centers.
Ability to interpret and execute Firing Room Launch Commit Criteria
This position requires shift and weekend work
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution required.
Experience in the Linux Operating System
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.)
Physical Requirements
This position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Additional physical requirements include walking, climbing stairs, and accessing remote or elevated structures.
Work Environment
May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Attendance
Full-time work hours.
Position may require occasional overtime depending on task.
Must be dependable and punctual. ·
Shift and weekend work is required.
Other Essential Functions
Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Government security clearance may be required in the future.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
