About This Position

Position Overview

APEX is currently seeking a Painter to join its Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Special Processing Supervisor.

The Painter is responsible for preparing parts and materials and applying paint or other non-metallic coatings in accordance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate assigned work as directed by the Supervisor and promptly report any quality concerns.

  • Plan and perform work efficiently to optimize the use of materials, labor, and equipment while meeting production and quality requirements outlined in shop documentation.

  • Maintain production schedules and support inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.

  • Ensure products meet customer requirements and contractual obligations.

  • Perform chemical preparation, masking, and racking of parts.

  • Select and mix paints using automated paint-mixing equipment according to established formulas.

  • Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents, or otherwise prepare items for coating.

  • Apply paint, lacquer, and other protective or decorative coatings using hand-held spray equipment.

  • Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Load, unload, and move materials and products using appropriate material-handling techniques and equipment.

  • Operate pallet jacks and other material-handling devices to load and unload trucks and trailers.

  • Perform additional duties as required to meet operational needs, including opening containers or crates, assisting with inventory, weighing and checking materials, and supporting production schedules.

  • Maintain stock of paints, tapes, chemicals, and related materials.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing on consignment materials and submit required documentation.

  • Monitor shelf life, rotate materials as required, and maintain accurate shelf-life logs.

  • Consistently use all required personal protective equipment in accordance with safety policies and direction from the safety committee or lead hand.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Technical or trade school training is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a positive, professional attitude.

  • Strong willingness and ability to learn new processes and materials.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

  • Willingness to become familiar with customer requirements, AS9100, and NADCAP procedures.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain organized in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
