About This Position

Description:

Job Summary:

This role requires the ability to work independently and serve as a resource within the Ontario County community by recruiting participants for the Peer Training Academy, delivering a multi-week training curriculum on relevant topics, conducting outreach to potential employers, and providing individual support and follow-up to participants to help them secure employment.

Primary Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Recruit participants for the Peer Training Academy through community outreach and engagement within Ontario County
  • Register new participants for the academy.
  • Deliver a multi-week training curriculum on relevant topics.
  • Assist participants with identifying and accessing educational resources.
  • Provide support and follow-up to academy participants throughout the training process and after completion.
  • Conduct outreach to potential employers to identify job opportunities
  • Maintain appropriate records and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Comply with HIPPA regulations.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience providing education support preferably in a mental health setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of the public mental health system.
  • MUST have valid NYS Certified Peer Specialist (NYSPS) certification
  • Use one’s personal lived experience in role modeling recovery and providing hope for others.
  • Reliable transportation and valid NYS driver’s license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and connection with community resources.
  • Group facilitation
  • Ability to maintain organized electronic health records for program statistics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of virtual meeting software.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a variety of work assignments in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity, respect, and competency with diverse backgrounds, social identities and practices of community members.
