Serving as a technical thought leader and SME for our ecosystem of partners, customers, and service providers in the realm of Healthcare Modernization, in addition to serving as a leader of other teammates. The Principal Technical Consultant works as part of the consulting team to lead the development, design, implementation, and engagement leader of client solutions. Principal Technical Consultants manage, mentor and delegate to engineers on a project basis, manage and maintain career advancement plans for the team, and within the broader organization as it relates to internal initiatives and indirect project support. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership abilities, and deep technical proficiency across the healthcare industry, specifically EMR systems.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain the architectural blueprint for the Epic platform, including ODBA (Database), Hyperspace, Web Blob, Interconnect server tiers, Cogito stack, etc.
  • Advise healthcare organizations on best practices for Epic environment’s architectural design and configuration, to ensure 24/7/365 operational reliability and prevent technical debt.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, at the highest quality standards while exceeding client expectations.
  • Design and implement complex, mission-critical transformational enterprise grade technical solutions for clients.   
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, drive business growth, and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
  • Develop high quality deliverables and presentations for Client engineering teams and senior leaders, this can include both technical documentation and non-technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their technical challenges and develop tailored solutions to address their needs
  • Create and present solution designs, options, ideas, and innovations to clients’ senior leadership teams. 
  • Develop and maintain Technical Roadmaps and Innovation Plans. 
  • Establish project estimates and plans, identify risks and mitigations, oversee development and delivery of technical solutions. 
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members, empowering them to grow and excel in their roles.
  • Actively lead collaboration within our technical communities
Qualifications
  • Experience and ability to “jump on a whiteboard” in front of a customer to develop a solution to a business / technology goal or challenge.
  • Strong consulting and business acumen
  • 10+ years of Enterprise IT experience and 5+ years specifically focused on the Epic platform within large, multi-facility health systems
  • Deep understanding of the Epic environment, Epic Cogito suite (Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench), interface engines (Bridges), and modern healthcare data exchange standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing Epic Environments (ODB, Interconnect, Hyper Space Web, BCA, Cogito stack, etc.) and experience in integrations with other clinical systems like PACS, Labs, Interface Enginges, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in performing large scale environment migrations from scenarios like hardware refreshes, data center moves, cloud migrations, etc.
  • Epic Certifications preferred
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of enterprise organizations and inner IT functions (e.g. Enterprise Architecture, Operations)
  • Knowledge of modern cloud-native application design principles, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI\CD Pipelines is a plus
The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
