GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

The Behavioral Healthcare Technician – Outpatient (BHT-OP) provides non-clinical, supportive services to patients participating in outpatient behavioral health programs. This position supports the daily operations of the program, assists with patient engagement, and helps maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. The BHT-OP works under the supervision of program leadership and licensed clinical staff and does not provide medical, nursing, or therapeutic services. This role is focused on milieu support, patient monitoring, program coordination, and documentation assistance in an outpatient setting. This position plays a key role in promoting patient engagement, program compliance, and a positive treatment environment. The BHT-OP is responsible for observing and reporting patient behavior and supporting program operations under appropriate supervision.

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 12:00 PM - 6:30 AM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Patient Support & Milieu Management

  • Greets and checks in patients; verifies attendance and program participation.
  • Maintains a structured, respectful, and therapeutic outpatient environment.
  • Observes patient behavior and engagement; reports concerns to clinical staff.
  • Provides support to patients during program activities, groups, and transitions.
  • Assists in de-escalation efforts under direction of clinical staff.
  • Reinforces program rules, expectations, and boundaries.

2. Program Operations Support

  • Assists with group room setup, materials, and overall program flow.
  • Coordinates patient movement between sessions and activities.
  • Supports scheduling logistics and patient flow within the program.
  • Assists with transportation coordination as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of program supplies and ensures readiness of spaces.

3. Documentation & Communication

  • Accurately tracks patient attendance, participation, and program engagement.
  • Documents non-clinical observations in accordance with company policy.
  • Communicates relevant information to licensed staff and program leadership.
  • Participates in team meetings and daily briefings as appropriate.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Maintains awareness of patient safety and environmental risks.
  • Follows all company safety protocols and incident reporting procedures.
  • Reports unusual behavior, safety concerns, or incidents immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Joint Commission standards, and applicable DHCS regulations.

5. Professional Conduct & Development

  • Demonstrates professionalism, ethical behavior, and appropriate boundaries.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policy.
  • Participates in required trainings and professional development.
  • Supports a culture of respect, inclusion, and accountability.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
  2. Follows and supports TPEG policies and procedures.
  3. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with internal and external partners.
  4. Represents TPEG, Inc., by embodying the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  5. Travels occasionally during the workday and on occasional overnight stay. (Compensation for mileage, food and lodging provided.)
  6. Maintains regular attendance at work and company activities and demonstrates punctuality regarding deadlines.

  8. Expands and updates job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional learning.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION:?High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.??
  2. SKILLS:?Demonstrated?ability to multi-task, manage client care, and?maintain?facility standards.??
  3. OTHER?EXPERIENCE?/?SKILLS?REQUIRED:?Strong?leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work?independently and as part of a team.??

  • Valid Driver's License / Clean Driving Record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proficient in English Language
  2. Proficient communicator

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Work settings vary from offices, program sites, and stakeholder locations
  2. Travel modes can include the use of company or personal transportation
