Job Description

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.

GMC is looking for a Construction Administrator to work in the Architecture Department of our Greenville, SC office. The Construction Administrator will be managing construction engineering projects and associated personnel for architecture projects; managing inspection team members; supporting project managers and providing oversight of construction deliverables and associated services.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate construction administration and inspection activities across multiple projects
  • Review and process contractor pay applications, submittals, field reports, and other construction-related documentation
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of project plans, specifications, and contract general conditions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, state, and federal regulations
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and verify general conformance with plans and specifications
  • Observe and document field conditions, identifying and helping resolve issues as they arise
  • Verify that work aligns with approved construction documents and contract requirements prior to payment certification
  • Ensure materials, methods, and workmanship meet established quality standards
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, technicians, environmental staff, code officials, and contractors to support project execution
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders under the guidance of the Project Manager
  • Support the resolution of field issues through collaboration with internal teams and external partners

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction administration experience
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of architectural, civil, structural, and MEP systems, along with applicable building codes and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with project management software, document review tools (e.g., Bluebeam), and contract management systems
  • Ability to support project scheduling, tracking, and basic cost estimating
  • Proven ability to manage and track tasks across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information to various stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and coordination skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities

Travel requirements:

  • FIELD (20%) AND OFFICE (80%)
