About the Role
Avathon is looking for an experienced and innovative AI Engineer to join our team to help create the next generation of artificial intelligence solutions that will help our customers make well-informed decisions and support critical missions. At Avathon, you will immerse yourself in cutting-edge research and work with the latest technologies to deliver value in the Industrial IoT and Defense spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and own the software layer responsible for delivering cutting edge AI products and solutions to defense and commercial customers
- Support delivery and maintenance of production level software through containers and orchestration tooling
- Work closely with data science, machine learning engineers, and devsecops to bring new AI/ML features into secure and reliable software products
- Operate in self-hosted, secure environments, handling sensitive information
- Function well in a highly autonomous environment and be comfortable bringing forward recommendations and technical solutions to the broader team
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship Required
- Fluency in at least one programming language, python preferred (we use C# and typescript as well)
- Experience with multiple data storage technologies, including relational, document, and graph databases
- Experience in AI Agent orchestration, tooling, and ecosystems
- Experience supporting or delivering software in a production environment
- Experience with Git best practices (we use GitLab)
- Experience creating and maintaining quality unit tests
- Experience with agile methodology and workflow
- Clear understanding of the benefits and tradeoffs of code generation tools and agents
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience supporting AL/ML software solutions
- 5+ years experience creating and supporting production level software
- Experience in small teams or startup environments with flexible responsibly
- Experience supporting multiple projects or technical solutions at the same time
- Comfortable operating in a self-hosted cloud environment (we use Azure)
