The Lead Massage Therapist serves as a senior practitioner within the Spa team, supporting service excellence, therapist development, and operational consistency. In addition to delivering exceptional guest experiences through massage therapy services, the Lead Massage Therapist assists leadership in maintaining treatment standards, supporting therapist training, and ensuring smooth service flow.
This role blends hands-on service with leadership responsibilities and plays a key role in maintaining the quality and innovation of the resort’s spa offerings.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities
Service Excellence
- Deliver exceptional massage therapy services aligned with resort service standards
- Maintain the highest standards of guest care, professionalism, and treatment quality
- Model best practices in guest communication, service flow, and treatment delivery
Training & Team Development
- Assist in onboarding and training massage therapists
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to new and existing therapists
- Support leadership in developing and refining training protocols
- Participate in skill development sessions and service standardization initiatives
Treatment Innovation
- Contribute ideas for new treatments, service enhancements, and wellness offerings
- Collaborate with spa leadership to refine existing service protocols
- Support implementation of new modalities or treatment concepts
Operational Support
- Assist with service product inventory related to massage therapy treatments
- Monitor supply levels and communicate inventory needs to leadership
- Support treatment room maintenance, readiness, and organization
- Assist in maintaining service flow and scheduling efficiency within the massage team
Service Quality & Compliance
Service Quality
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to therapists to maintain consistent treatment quality, guest experience standards, and service flow
- Support leadership in identifying training opportunities and skill development needs within the massage therapy team
Compliance & Regulatory Standards
- Monitor spa operations to ensure the department remains compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing spa operations, including the City of Murrieta Massage Establishment Code
- Scheduling Expectations
- Must be available to work five (5) days per week
- Must maintain flexibility to adjust scheduled shifts as needed to accommodate training sessions and operational needs
Compensation Structure
- Base pay: Standard massage therapist service rate for all service hours
- Lead Training Pay: $27.00 per hour for hours spent actively training associates
- Lead training hours include:
- onboarding new therapists
- facilitating skill training
- coaching sessions
- treatment protocol training

Qualifications
- Active and valid California Massage Therapy Certification with CAMTC
- Demonstrated excellence in massage therapy practice
- Strong communication and mentorship skills
- Ability to model service standards and professionalism
