About the Role:
The Clinical Lab Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare system by performing complex laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results, which directly impact patient care decisions. The technologist will operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, analyze biological specimens, and maintain quality control standards to uphold laboratory accreditation requirements. Collaboration with healthcare professionals is essential to interpret test outcomes and provide timely information that supports clinical decision-making. Ultimately, the role contributes to improving patient outcomes through precise laboratory diagnostics and adherence to safety and regulatory protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
* Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AMT) or eligibility to obtain certification.
* Knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control standards.
* Familiarity with laboratory information systems and data management.
* Ability to comply with safety and regulatory requirements in a clinical laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
* Advanced certifications or specializations in areas such as microbiology, hematology, or molecular diagnostics.
* Proficiency with laboratory automation systems and advanced diagnostic technologies.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through prior work experience.
* Experience with laboratory accreditation processes such as CAP or CUA.
Responsibilities:
* Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
* Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
* Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and document findings accurately in laboratory information systems.
* Adhere to established quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing to maintain laboratory accreditation standards.
* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide technical expertise.
* Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
* Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, reagent usage, and equipment maintenance.
* Stay current with advances in laboratory technology and participate in continuing education opportunities.
