About This Position
Job Summary:
Responsible for all areas pertaining to the accurate and prompt receipt of items ordered for and delivered to Forrest General Hospital (FGH). Maintains and updates logs and files for and pertaining to receipt of items to ensure integrity of items received. Assist logistics supervisor in all areas of receiving and other delivery and inventory duties at FGH. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

- Answers the phone promptly and professionally. Always identifies the department and him/herself when answering the phone.
- Responds promptly to requests of customers.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with employees in all departments.
- Straightens assigned area before and after each shift.
- Sweeps and clears the dock area of empty boxes, broken pallets, and packing materials daily to ensure the safe, efficient operations of the receiving dock.
- Operates all pallet jacks and flatbeds safely and efficiently.
- Promptly scans and verifies shipments.
- Accurately receives orders, matching packing slips to actual items received. Notes discrepancies or changes on POs.
- Communicates with purchasing staff regarding backorders, non-shipment, or refusal of goods.
- Updates and files packing slips daily.
- Verifies that correct delivery documents are printed and matched to shipments.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Logistics Supervisor or Director.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Courses in math or accounting are helpful.
Work Experience:
Warehouse or supply work experience required. Previous experience in a receiving area desirable.
Certification/Licensure—DUE UPON HIRE
- Valid Driver's License
Mental Demands:
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, cooperate with others, meet deadlines, give and follow directions, interpret orders and packing slips and make decisions on refusing or accepting orders based on hospital needs, and demonstrate initiative.
