Major Contracting is a rapidly growing civil contractor based in Detroit, specializing in sitework, utilities, and material testing. We are seeking an elite, highly connected Senior Business Development Manager to serve as the strategic lead driving our expansion across Southeast Michigan and beyond.
This is not a standard sales role; this position offers high-level autonomy to cultivate million-dollar partnerships and transform growth strategies into tangible, large-scale project wins. You will serve as the face of the company, bridging the gap between municipal leadership, private developers, and our elite operations team. If you have the Rolodex, the industry expertise, and the drive to secure high-value public and private civil construction contracts, we provide the company vehicle, the top-tier salary, and the operational excellence to back up your promises.
What You Will Be DoingYou will be the tip of the spear for our revenue growth, managing the complex sales cycle from initial relationship building through the final contract award:
- Strategic Growth: Identify, pursue, and secure high-value business opportunities within the public and private civil construction sectors.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and sustain long-term, strategic relationships with key municipalities, engineers, developers, and general contractors.
- Pipeline Management: Track upcoming bid opportunities, lead the company's presence at critical pre-bid meetings, and manage detailed CRM records to provide leadership with accurate pipeline tracking and revenue forecasting.
- Internal Alignment: Collaborate closely with our estimating and operations departments to align business acquisition with our internal capacity, scheduling, and strategic growth goals.
- Proposal Development: Support the end-to-end proposal development process to ensure our project submissions are both highly competitive and technically sound.
- Brand Representation: Represent the organization as a subject matter expert at key industry events, networking functions, and high-stakes client presentations.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of proven professional experience in business development, sales, or project management.
- Industry Track Record: A proven, verifiable track record of securing lucrative contracts within the civil contracting or heavy construction markets.
- Market Knowledge (Preferred): A deep, established understanding of Southeast Michigan civil markets, municipal bid processes, and complex project lifecycles. (Experience working within a unionized or prevailing wage environment is a massive plus!)
- Technical Skills: Advanced experience using CRM software to manage complex sales funnels.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong executive-level negotiation skills with a history of closing large-scale commercial or federal infrastructure deals.
- Education & Licensure: A Bachelors Degree (or equivalent professional leadership experience) and a valid Drivers License with the ability to travel locally for client engagements.
We reward top-tier results with a highly lucrative executive compensation and benefits package:
- Elite Earning Potential: $100,000 $125,000 Base Salary strictly based on your experience, plus significant Year-End Bonus potential!
- Equipped for Success: Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided!
- Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, plus a Health Savings Account (HSA) and Life/Disability Insurance options.
- Financial Future: A 401(k) Retirement Plan with a competitive company contribution.
- Work-Life Balance: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), including Holidays, Vacation, and Sick leave.
- Career Trajectory: Unmatched professional development and long-term career growth opportunities as we scale our operations.
