Certco Inc., a leading grocery wholesale distributor serving independent retailers throughout the Midwest, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to support operations at our Daniels Street warehouse facility in Madison.

What You Will Do

  • As a Maintenance Technician, you will help ensure our facility and equipment operate safely and efficiently by
  • Troubleshooting and repairing warehouse equipment and building systems
  • Performing preventative maintenance on conveyors and material handling systems
  • Maintaining and servicing electric powered industrial equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Maintaining industrial batteries for lift trucks
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and operational maintenance needs
  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance inspections
  • Maintaining maintenance logs, work orders, and repair documentation
  • Assisting with coordination of outside contractors when necessary
  • Identifying safety hazards and reporting maintenance concerns

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience maintaining conveyor systems preferred
  • Experience repairing forklifts or material handling equipment preferred
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Experience working with electrical systems up to 480V three phase preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in cold storage conditions

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility and all operational equipment to ensure safe and efficient warehouse operations. This includes troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on building systems, conveyor systems and electric powered industrial equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks. The position performs both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, responds to operational issues and helps ensure all equipment is operating safely and reliably. Individual responsibilities and work priorities will be established through annual performance objectives aligned with departmental goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Safely operate lift trucks and other powered industrial equipment
  • Maintain and service industrial batteries for the lift truck fleet
  • Troubleshoot, service and repair electric powered industrial trucks including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Maintain and repair facility systems including building equipment and material handling systems
  • Troubleshoot and maintain warehouse conveyor systems
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
  • Perform safety and operational testing on equipment and systems
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and operational maintenance issues
  • Complete accurate daily work orders and maintenance documentation
  • Maintain maintenance logs, repair records and required reports
  • Track maintenance requests and work order completion
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and parts
  • Attend required meetings and training programs
  • Assist in coordinating repairs with outside contractors and vendors
  • Identify equipment issues and report hazardous or emergency conditions
  • Perform general facility and equipment preventative maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Maintain regular attendance and comply with the company attendance policy

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in cold storage conditions throughout the workday
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics and technical manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Experience with electrical maintenance up to 480V three phase systems
  • Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with minimal supervision

Education and Experience

  • 1 to 3 years maintenance experience in an industrial or warehouse environment preferred
  • Experience maintaining conveyor systems preferred
  • Experience repairing electric lift trucks or material handling equipment preferred
  • Welding experience preferred

  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to climb on ladders, lifts and equipment. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl and kneel to perform job duties. (75–100%)
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds occasionally (75-100%)
  • Travel: Ability to travel between locations as required. (0–24%)
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in an operational environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and equipment movement when applicable. (75–100%)
  • Safety Requirements: Must comply with all safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in operational areas. (75–100%)
