Job Description

Description:

We are seeking a hands-on Assembly Technician to build and assemble heavy-duty conveyor systems and material handling equipment. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication and assembly environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble heavy-duty conveyor systems, including frames, rollers, bearings, drives, and components
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Install shafts, sprockets, chains, gearboxes, and motors
  • Perform alignment and fit-up of mechanical components
  • Work closely with Engineering to support builds, troubleshoot assembly issues, and perform in-house shop setups
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, etc.)
  • Assist with troubleshooting and correcting assembly issues
  • Work with welders and fabricators to ensure proper fit and function
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Meet production schedules and deadlines

Requirements

  • 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience (conveyor or heavy equipment preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Great communication skills and ability to work effectively with Engineering and shop personnel
  • Experience with:
    • Bearings, rollers, and shafts
    • Chain drives and sprockets
    • Gearboxes and motors
  • Ability to use standard shop tools and measuring equipment
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with conveyor systems or material handling equipment
  • Basic welding or fabrication knowledge
  • Experience with rigging and equipment movement
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience

Work Environment

  • Shop environment with heavy steel components
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
  • PPE required (safety glasses, steel toe boots, etc.)
