Job Description
Description:
We are seeking a hands-on Assembly Technician to build and assemble heavy-duty conveyor systems and material handling equipment. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication and assembly environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble heavy-duty conveyor systems, including frames, rollers, bearings, drives, and components
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Install shafts, sprockets, chains, gearboxes, and motors
- Perform alignment and fit-up of mechanical components
- Work closely with Engineering to support builds, troubleshoot assembly issues, and perform in-house shop setups
- Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, etc.)
- Assist with troubleshooting and correcting assembly issues
- Work with welders and fabricators to ensure proper fit and function
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Meet production schedules and deadlines
Requirements
- 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience (conveyor or heavy equipment preferred)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Great communication skills and ability to work effectively with Engineering and shop personnel
- Experience with:
- Bearings, rollers, and shafts
- Chain drives and sprockets
- Gearboxes and motors
- Ability to use standard shop tools and measuring equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with conveyor systems or material handling equipment
- Basic welding or fabrication knowledge
- Experience with rigging and equipment movement
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
Work Environment
- Shop environment with heavy steel components
- Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
- PPE required (safety glasses, steel toe boots, etc.)
