Public Area Attendant - Hampton Inn St. Ignace at NORTHERN HOTELS GROUP, LLC – SAINT IGNACE, Michigan

Reports To: Housekeeping Manager / Assistant General Manager Department: Housekeeping / Guest Services

Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

The Houseperson / Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of public areas and supporting housekeeping operations in a limited-service hotel environment. This role plays a key part in guest satisfaction by ensuring common areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained in accordance with hotel brand standards and company policies.

Clean and maintain hotel public areas including lobby, hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, and fitness areas.

Assist housekeeping team with room turnovers, linen delivery, and supply restocking as needed.

Collect and dispose of trash from guest rooms and public areas.

Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas including laundry and storage rooms.

Respond promptly to housekeeping-related guest requests.

Set up and break down meeting rooms or public spaces as required.

Follow all cleaning procedures, safety standards, and chemical handling guidelines.

Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management promptly.

Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.

Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces for guests.

Support housekeeping efficiency to ensure timely room readiness.

Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when interacting with guests.

Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred; hotel experience a plus.

Ability to follow cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.

Basic organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as required.

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.

Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing carts for extended periods.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional wet or slippery surfaces.

Indoor public area and back-of-house environment with moderate noise levels.

Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with hotel grooming and uniform standards.

Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail.
