JOB DESCRIPTION

The Software Developer Sr. Principal will support the USASOC OTA Program in Fayetteville, NC (hybrid) or Remote.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Software Developer Sr. Principal you will provide support for application development of data and business systems software to include analysis of business needs, systems flow, and determination of data storage and usage requirements. You will work as part of a team with other contractors, government civilians, and military personnel in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Lead end-to-end software development across all SDLC phases, including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, refinement, debugging, and updates.


  • Translate complex user and mission/business needs into scalable system architectures, detailed requirements, and actionable technical plans.


  • Produce and review advanced design artifacts (models, diagrams, workflows) to guide development and ensure technical alignment across teams.


  • Develop high-quality, maintainable, and secure software solutions within a multidisciplinary environment supporting mission-critical intelligence operations.


  • Build and maintain big-data ETL pipelines (Hadoop, Apache Airflow) and automate data ingestion from APIs and databases using Python and SQL.


  • Execute DevOps processes for application and database deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.


  • Automate retrieval of data from various sources via API and direct database queries for intelligence analysts and data scientists using SQL and Python.


  • Utilize industry-standard tools (GitLab, Jira, Confluence) for version control, workflow management, documentation, and traceability.


  • Engage directly with customers and mission partners to gather requirements, provide product feedback loops, and deliver capability briefings for military stakeholders.


  • Provide senior-level technical guidance to ensure optimal documentation, maintainability, and sustainability of software systems.


  • Mentor and coach junior developers; may serve as team or task lead; perform additional duties as needed.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience developing customer driven applications for data collection and analysis


  • Backend/DevOPs Knowledge Areas: Python, Docker, Helm/Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, or relational databases


  • Database: Postgres, SQL


  • General: Gitlab CI/CD, REST APIs


DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Backend/DevOPs Knowledge Areas: Golang, Go, Node/NestJS, Java/Spring Boot, Kotlin, TypeORM, GORM


  • Frontend Knowledge Areas: React JS, Node JS, NEST JS, Typescript


  • Database: Elasticsearch, MongoDB


  • General: Linux, K8s, Git, WebSocket, Redis, Keycloak, S3/Minio, Puppeteer


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Clearance: Current DoW Secret clearance required ; active Top Secret with SCI eligibility desired


  • Experience: 8 years of related experience


  • Education:Technical training or degree


  • Certifications: None


  • Role requirements: Fayetteville, NC (Hybrid) or remote (with travel to customer site up to 1x per month).

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
