Pay Range: $223,412.80 - $271,128.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The professional role of the Physicist includes equipment management, data acquisition and processing, research and development, teaching and training, quality assurance, radiation protection and radio pharmacy.

Qualification

  • MS is radiation science, health physics or equivalent, minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Pursues ongoing continuing education.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the implementation of other technology with nuclear medicine. (PACS,RTP,FUSION)
  • Commercial software implementation on existing systems.
  • Design and implementation of methods for image acquisition and data processing.
  • Design, implementation, and staff training of patient data archiving.
  • Ensures that the quantity of radioactive material administered to patients is appropriate for the procedure being performed in radionuclide therapy.
  • Discussion with commercial manufacturers in ensuring that purchased equipment is fit for its intended clinical purpose.
  • Evaluation and implementation of techniques developed by colleagues in other Hospitals.
  • Fetal dosimetry for all clinical nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Internal dosimetry for estimation of absorbed radiation dose to critical organs.
  • Internal dosimetry for I-131 thyroid ablation and thyroid cancer therapy.
  • Ongoing checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of clinical results.
  • Procurement and acceptance testing of new equipment.
  • Quantitative measurement of image quality of existing gamma cameras and PET system.
  • Software development from production of macros to automate tasks, to new applications written from scratch.
  • Teaching and training of radiology residents.
