About This Position

Job Title: Supplier Quality Technician

Department: SQA - AL/GA

Reports to: SQA Manager – A1/A2 Plant / G1 Plant

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Purpose:

The Supplier Quality Technician position supports Supplier Quality Engineers by managing daily non-conforming supplier parts on the plant floor. The technician is responsible for identifying, quarantining, sorting, and securely holding non-conforming parts in MCA A1, A2, and G1 that are determined by Production Quality to be supplier-related defects. These parts are either returned to the supplier or released back to the production line. When supplier improvements are required, the technician will work with the Supplier Quality team to support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.




Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Non-Conforming part control – to include:
    1. Quarantine all suspect parts in NCM location & System and hold to prevent unauthorized moving.
    2. Train sorting (or rework) personnel on approved work standards to ensure accurate inspection (or rework).
    3. Monitor inspection (or rework) status to follow Work standard
    4. Organize pallets of parts awaiting inspection and completed inspection pallets in NCM area in accordance with 5S principles.
    5. Prepare and submit daily reports detailing sorting, inspection, and rework results.
  • NCM inventory Control – to include:
    1. Perform daily physical inventory counts for all materials in NCM cage and reconcile with System inventory (G MES).
    2. Provide daily inventory status reports to the Supplier Engineers.
    3. Prepare periodical Return to Vendor (RTV) shipments and coordinate with Materials team to return parts back to suppliers.
    4. Complete Inventory adjustment request form (F502) and submit to Supplier Quality Engineer.
    5. Create pallet labels for materials to be moved and coordinate with relevant team to execute pallet move out.
    6. Maintain daily 5S standards within NCM area.
  • Support and Assist with SQE tasks – to include:
    1. Create daily/weekly reports of Sorting results and Inventory check to SQE.
    2. Participate in Customer-site sorting activities with Quality Team when needed, subject to Manager approval.
    3. Coordinate transport of supplier defect parts to shipping office to expedite shipment.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing work experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of production processes and quality requirements
  • Basic reading comprehension, math, and analytical skills required
  • Proficient in computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point, e-mail, etc.)
  • Good communication skills (Verbal, Written, Auditory)
  • Highly organized/ Ability to multitask
  • Ability to professionally address quality issues and escalate concerns appropriately

Legal Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily works on manufacturing floor and warehouse with occasional office-based activities.
  • Office activities: Assist SQE in creating work instructions for sort or rework, and matching supplier claim verification invoice in system.
  • Regular exposure to noise, moving machinery, energized equipment, in-frequent exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Frequent exposure to material movement, narrow aisles, occasional uneven walking surfaces
  • Mandatory requirement of PPE (safety shoes, eye protection) on manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional requirement of using computer and office equipment
  • Weekends and Overtime as business needs require.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, bending, twisting, reaching and walking, occasional sitting
  • Frequent use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity: Gripping, pinching, tool (hand drill), and keyboard
  • Frequent sensory demands: Vision (near/far, depth, color), hearing/speech (as relevant to safety)
  • Frequent requirement of lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to external temperatures in work environment (A2 Plant)
