Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, the Director will assist senior leadership for the Division of Student Life in the development of a holistic approach to ensuring student health, personal development and overall positive well-being. In collaboration with senior leadership, the Director will: provide guidance for the division’s response to students of concern; monitor assessment and current behavioral trends; help facilitate and evaluate programs that center on counseling, health and wellness goals for positively impacting the student experience; and overseeing the development of a well-care plan for students.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for Counseling Services
  • Manage a student case load
  • Consult with the Academic Enrichment Center and partner for assessment and programming
  • Advise as needed for ODAS (Office of Disability and Accessibility Services) student cases
  • Provide outreach and maintain contractual agreements with local mental health agencies and professional
  • Support and advocate for undergraduate and graduate students who are in crisis: intervene in sensitive cases involving mental and physical illness and other threats of harm to mind and body
  • Serve on the College’s Early Alert team
  • Provide expertise and participate in the division’s on-call crisis response as needed
  • Advise Dean/Director on-call personnel, along with Public Safety and Residence Life staff
  • Monitor compliance expectations for Counseling Services
  • Advise as needed in response to crisis situations (Title IX, etc.)
  • Some required evening/weekend work throughout the academic year
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in student affairs administration or counseling with an active license to practice counseling (LMHC or LCSW) in the state of Indiana.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with an electronic health record software
  • Strong project / program management and evaluation skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Previous experience working with students regarding cases related to Title IX, victim advocacy and education
  • Clinical education in Counseling and/or Health related fields preferred (psychology, social work and/or psychiatric nursing).
