About This Position
TITLE: Director of Social Services
STATUS: Full-Time: 40 hours per week; Day shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands; Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose them to illness or interfere with the obtaining of maximum benefits from medical care; Directs and administer the Human Services Program of the hospital and Geriatric Program.
QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
- Previous experience in social work in a hospital setting, supervision, and budget management.
- Demonstrates the ability to function in a leadership position.
- Able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures and accuracy in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital and community committees.
- Demonstrates ability to assimilate the totality of the patient's circumstances, medical problems, family support, home environment, finances, etc.
- Influences the direction of the Human Services department by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
- Ability to maintain concentration despite interruptions, Capable of functioning under stressful situations.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and effective communication in dealing with customers and hospital personnel.
- Demonstrates administrative and technical skills essential to job and supervision of human service programs.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of counseling skills and crisis intervention strategies.
