Are you passionate about giving back to your community and making a lasting difference in the lives of young people?
Who We Are:
In 1922, Woodcraft Rangers opened its doors in Los Angeles and began its mission of guiding young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives. As a progressive organization, Woodcraft has always been responsive to the evolving needs of the communities served, and is notably inclusive, youth-led, and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. Continuously at the forefront of expanded learning opportunities, Woodcraft Rangers has a rich history of making a significant impact in the greater Los Angeles area, believing that all youth are innately good, deserve the opportunity to realize their full potential, and should be an active participant in defining their own path.

What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer LifeCraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a builder — someone who has stood up technology infrastructure before, preferably in a complex, distributed, mission-driven context. This is an inaugural position at Woodcraft Rangers. The person who steps into it will have the rare opportunity to build the technology function from the ground up, set its culture and standards, and leave a lasting imprint on how the organization operates. The CEO is seeking a true strategic partner — someone who will help ensure the organization remains agile, efficient, and responsive to community need as it scales from a $20M to $100M+ enterprise. This is a leadership role first and a technology role second.

Why Work for Woodcraft Rangers:
  • Competitive salary – $200,000 - $250,000 annually
  • Paid vacation & sick time – generous time off to recharge
  • Lifecraft program – free college & career advancement for all staff
  • Upward mobility – promote-from-within culture
  • Health, dental & vision – comprehensive benefits coverage
  • 403(b) retirement plan – invest in your future
  • Pet insurance – because your whole family matters
  • Mission-driven work – impact 30,000 + young people annually
Role Overview:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a newly created executive leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. The CIO will design and lead Woodcraft Rangers' technology strategy across enterprise systems, data infrastructure, automation, compliance, and AI — building the integrated technology ecosystem required to support an organization scaling to 5,000+ employees, 300+ program sites, and a $150M+ budget. This leader will work across all departments as a strategic partner, translating organizational growth goals into a coherent, future-forward technology roadmap.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of enterprise systems spanning HR, finance, program operations, and CRM — establishing system governance, access controls, and organization-wide data standards
  • Build and maintain a centralized data platform with modern data warehouse, ETL/ELT pipelines, and leadership dashboards that provide real-time operational visibility across all program sites
  • Deploy workflow automation tools to streamline cross-system processes, reduce manual administrative burden, and scale efficiently alongside headcount and site growth
  • Partner with the COO and Sr. Director of Operations to ensure technology infrastructure supports procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, and supply chain operations across the site network
  • Ensure all systems and data practices meet the compliance requirements of public contracting — including LAUSD, county agency contracts, ELO-P obligations, government audit standards, and child data privacy protections
  • Lead organizational technology risk management including cybersecurity posture, business continuity planning, data governance, and incident response protocols
  • Integrate AI tools into operational workflows and stand up a centralized knowledge management platform to serve a distributed workforce; develop organizational AI policy and responsible use frameworks
  • Establish data definitions, reporting cadences, and performance metrics aligned to program quality and funder requirements
  • Manage technology vendors, contracts, and enterprise software relationships
  • Build, mentor, and lead the technology and data team from early-stage infrastructure
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience, including direct experience building or significantly scaling enterprise technology infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-system implementations across HR, finance, operations, or program management platforms
  • Fluency with modern data stack components: cloud data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, BI tools, and data modeling frameworks
  • Track record of leading cross-functional technology projects across distributed teams or multi-site organizations
  • Experience managing technology vendors, contracts, and enterprise software relationships
  • Prior experience in mission-driven, government-adjacent, or education/nonprofit contexts with compliance and reporting obligations preferred
  • Familiarity with expanded learning, K-12, or human services program environments preferred
  • Experience building and mentoring technology teams from early-stage infrastructure preferred
  • Strategic thinker who can translate organizational growth goals into coherent technology roadmaps
  • Strong communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical executive and board audiences
  • Operator who thrives in high-growth, resource-conscious environments where priorities shift quickly
  • Equity-centered leader who understands that the communities we serve deserve technology infrastructure that works reliably and with dignity
