About This Position
The Medical Assistant works as a partner with the Providers (Physicians and Nurse Practitioner) to treat patients. The Medical Assistant will provide assistance at the direction of the Provider and provide patient care within scope of practice of medical training.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Checks schedule each day to confirm workday schedule. (Schedules are subject to change).
2. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
3. Accurately and truthfully complete patient records in a timely manner.
4. Work harmoniously with Physician and Clerical staff to meet all patient needs.
5. Take and record vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, collection of routine urine specimens, monitors/records elimination.
6. Demonstrate the ability and skill to provide medical assistance to patients at the direction of the Physician and within scope of practice as it applies to medical training.
7. May carry out therapeutic measures under the direction of the Physician (such as changes of bandages, suture removal, splint application, and/or application of heat or cold, etc.)
8. Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as appropriate.
9. Administer immunizations as appropriate.
10. Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.
11. Provide patient education as directed by the physician.
12. Complete daily routine assignments.
13. Assist with coordination of work with Medical Assistant Supervisor for follow up on missed appointments, reminder calls, and high-risk referrals.
14. Serve as back up for team members as needed including vacations, illnesses, lunches, etc.
15. Stay up to date on public health policies and procedures.
16. Other job-related duties as assigned.
GENERAL DUTIES:
1. Maintains a standard level of professionalism with patients, public and colleagues.
2. Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
3. Maintain clean and orderly utility rooms, linens, etc., at all times.
4. Clean and care for equipment and utensils as needed.
5. Maintain a sanitary environment in exam rooms, restocking medical supplies as needed for patient care.
6. Responds to all inquiries timely and professionally preserving confidentiality.
7. Positive and professional conduct through both verbal and non-verbal communication.
8. Maintains patient/employee privacy and confidentiality at all times.
9. Attend staff meetings and in-service education.
10. Perform as a positive member of a team with a willingness to help other who are in need.
11. Allow patients the opportunity to be involved in decision-making as appropriate.
12. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms, etc., as needed.
13. Assist in ordering supplies and equipment as needed for various outpatient clinics.
