About This Position

JOB SUMMARY
-
Performs sleep studies, multiple sleep latency tests and scoring of these studies. Responsible for recording total body activity during sleep and awake; also recording any sleep disorder that the patient may have. Performs EEGs and NCV/EMG tests. Responsible for recording electrical activity of the patient's brain and nervous system. Also understands blood flow of the brain. Ability to perform all tests with appropriate skills. Performs clerical duties. Participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

Education/Regulatory Requirements:
-
Licensed Respiratory Therapist, RPSGT, RST, or Registered EEG Technologist.
-
RPSGT, CRT-SDS, or RRT-SDS are required within 1 year of hire date.
-
Experience preferred but not required.
-
Current BCLS certification.
-
Attends continuing education course/seminars when available.

Skills:
-
Moderate to advanced computer and data entry skills.
-
Ability to monitor and interpret EEG wave patterns, read sleep studies, and score sleep tests.

Experienced techs will be given and must pass a skills competency test prior to hire.
