Pay Range

$55,400.00-$76,100.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

We are passionate, we care about people, we perform, and we protect others and our environments. We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to be based in our Littleton, CO Technical Center.

This is a journeyman level position responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. Working with the plant management team at all levels within the organization to support the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection. The position will report to the Facilities Manager.

The Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting the plant's overall safety objectives. They must demonstrate a safety-first value, leading by example, not just abiding by all current safety rules, but supporting an environment of continuous improvement.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Plans, orders materials and schedules.
  • Works as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision.
  • Documents all work in CMMS-Limble and JIRA tracking software on a timely basis.
  • Completes activities under the mechanical and electrical sections.
  • Manage downtime by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Operation of Forklifts and Personal Lifts
  • Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
  • Performs Lock Out/Tag Out system duties as assigned.
  • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office & Outlook)
  • May be required to work overtime when needed.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Electrical

  • Reads and interprets electrical electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, instruments loop sheets and technical manuals.
  • Installs and maintains electronic and pneumatic measurements and control systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs variable speed motor drive systems.
  • Reads and follows practices set forth in the National Electrical Code.
  • Selects and uses all standard electrical/electronic and instrumentation test equipment.

Mechanical

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical transmission power systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshoot air handler units.
  • Perform operation and preventive maintenance duties as they relate to all air compressors and systems related to secondary air treatment.
  • Maintain and rebuild reheat and perimeter and chilled water pumps, as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs lubrication systems and gearboxes.
  • Perform routine and specialized lubrication tests.
  • Able to perform basic welding tasks.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic systems.
  • Performs precision alignment tasks using laser systems.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, and balances fans.
  • Able to perform basic millwright tasks.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and piping system.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to perform skilled plumbing work on all applicable equipment and systems. Operating, maintaining, installing, and repairing building systems such as water, compressed air, and natural gas.
  • Lubricate chains, bearings, gearboxes, etc.
  • Change filters.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years in role with demonstrated skill.
  • Strong problem resolution skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and use the stairs. The employee must frequently lift, push, or pull twenty-five pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job is in a Research and Development facility. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, gloves, and head protection.
