Shift: Part-Time

This is a non-paid internship!!!

Mission: Hour Children is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy, independent, and secure lives.

Overview

The Human Resources Assistant position provides general administrative assistance to the Human Resources Manager and to the Senior Director of Operations. This entry-level role will offer a chance to obtain extensive knowledge of HR operations as well as invaluable practical experience.


You will be involved in a variety of HR-related activities as an HR intern, such as administrative work, employee relations, hiring, training, and other HR projects. This entry-level role will offer a chance to obtain extensive knowledge of HR operations as well as invaluable practical experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the recruitment process. Initiates all new hire onboarding and related follow-up using the Paychex Flex HCM platform. Handles correspondence with applicants if paperwork is incomplete.
  • Maintains updated records in the Paychex Flex HCM platform of all open and closed positions and of all active and inactive employees
  • Schedules for HR onboarding training and cultural orientation training
  • Schedules exit interviews and updates all related HR documents for all terminations and notifies technology and web departments of necessary updates.
  • Provide administrative support in various HR functions, such as preparing HR documents, drafting internal communications, and maintaining HR databases.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and events, helping to foster a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Works closely with HR Manager in document preparation, dissemination, and record keeping for annual performance evaluations.
  • Conducts research regarding wage and hour and other labor-related legal updates and HR policy development and amendments
  • Provides general office support services including but not limited to handling incoming and outgoing mail; answering phones; responding to correspondence from Unemployment Insurance
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Excel, Gmail, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient with HRIS platforms, Paychex, ADP Workforce Now, Workday

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and regulations is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain high ethical standards.
