Physical RequirementsWorking with large and small animals as needed. Standing or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive motion tasks. Lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs. Exposure to cuts/punctures, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste. Intermittent job-related travel. Hiking farmland.

ShiftM-F 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional nights and weekends. Available for emergencies after normal work hours.

Job SummaryOur Cooperative Extension program requires a highly qualified veterinarian to coordinate specialized One Health training sessions for our Extension agents and provide animal health expertise to Kentucky producers and industry stakeholders. This position will bring advanced knowledge and expertise in veterinary medicine, with a strong focus on areas such as animal health, welfare, disease prevention, intersection with human health, and treatment.

This Senior Veterinarian will effectively communicate complex veterinary/animal health concepts to a diverse audience of Extension agents, empowering them with the skills and knowledge necessary to support our local communities. Additionally, this position requires specialized DVM licensure and clinical expertise to serve as Extension coordinator as part of a transdisciplinary team to build a new One Health Center focused on building health partnerships with medical professionals across UK Healthcare and animal/human research (i.e. developing Extension statewide responses to zoonotic diseases that impact animal and humans).
