Job SummaryThe Inventory Control Manager is a pivotal role responsible for developing, implementing, and managing inventory control strategies to optimize inventory levels, ensure accuracy, and support seamless production flow. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance the need for high service levels with the financial imperative of minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, adept at process improvement, and an effective cross-functional leader.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Strategy & Planning:
Develop and execute inventory management policies and procedures to achieve target inventory turns and days of inventory on hand (DIOH).
Implement demand planning and forecasting techniques to align inventory levels with production schedules and sales forecasts.
Manage safety stock levels and reorder points for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
Inventory Accuracy & Control:
Oversee all cycle counting and physical inventory programs, ensuring a high degree of inventory record accuracy (target > 99%).
Lead root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Manage the reconciliation of inventory variances and ensure timely adjustments in the ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Process Improvement & Systems:
Continuously review and improve inventory management processes, including receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping.
Leverage the ERP system and other tools (e.g., WMS, data analytics platforms) to enhance visibility, reporting, and control.
Drive initiatives to reduce slow-moving, obsolete (SLOB), and excess inventory.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of inventory analysts, cycle counters, and warehouse staff.
Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Procurement, Planning, Production, and Finance teams to ensure a synchronized supply chain.
Partner with Finance to support month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory valuation.
Liaise with Quality Assurance to manage non-conforming and quarantined materials.
Reporting & Compliance:
Generate and present regular KPI reports on inventory health, including accuracy, turnover, aging, and scrap.
Ensure all inventory control activities comply with company policies and relevant regulatory standards.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is a strong plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or supply chain, within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in the electronics manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge of ERP systems; SAP implementation or advanced user experience is a significant advantage.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, Macros).
Strong understanding of inventory management principles (e.g., FIFO, LIFO), lean manufacturing, and 5S methodology.
