About This Position
Job Description Summary:
A successful server will be attentive to guests without being intrusive. They should be knowledgeable about the food they are serving, taking time before departure to review the binder so they can be knowledgeable of the site instructions, guest count, and other notations. A successful server will be able to serve a single sided buffet meal efficiently and fluidly. They should be able to make the guest feel at ease and create a comfortable environment. In addition to customer service, they must also be a team player. A good server recognizes when a fellow server may need help and aids gladly. Event functions are a team effort and by combining these skills and characteristics, servers can contribute to a memorable event.
Key AccountabilitiesAssist in the successful execution of full-service events.
Duty Statements
- Confirm event information with the direct supervisor - driving & parking directions, uniform requirements, timing, etc.
- May be required to meet at the shop or on-site, depending on the event.
- May require driving small vehicles, vans, or trucks, depending on comfort level.
- Arrive on time, dressed in the proper uniform.
- Follow the Instructions of the direct supervisor while on site
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
- Follow health and safety practices at all times.
- Unload vehicle & assist with event set-up - including, but not limited to, setting up tables/chairs, arranging buffet décor, placing food service items/equipment, etc.
- Attend a pre-event meeting.
- Client and guest relations; be courteous and polite, create a great guest experience and customer satisfaction, and anticipate the guest's needs.
- Follow directions and locations of bussing and clearing stations
- Handle safely and adequately all equipment, glassware, plate ware, etc.
- Clear any dishes and glassware when needed
- Pick up trash and keep all guest areas clean
- Assist with food preparation if required and assigned.
- Maintain a neat and visually-appealing buffet. Clear any trash as needed.
- Handle all equipment, serving utensils, totes, etc., properly.
- Work with a positive attitude while maintaining teamwork & efficiency.
- Seek council from the direct supervisor when needed.
- Be courteous and attentive to guests during the event.
- Provide friendly service to the guests and ensure that the event has a positive experience and the customer needs are met.
- Breakdown/Clean-up of buffet & food service equipment.
- Repackaging of unused food so it may be repurposed.
- Clean all areas and leave them cleaner than were found.
- Check out with the direct supervisor before clocking out.
- Clock in and clock out at the beginning and end of the shift.
- Maintain accurate profile of availability on staffing applicator.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certification.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Level required
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
The minimum experience level required
One or two years of experience in a hospitality or event environment experience is preferred.
The amount of supervision received by the employee
The incumbent reports to the Event Director.
The skills required
The Job requires excellent analytical, communication skills and customer service skills.
BOTH the level and nature of the INTERNAL contacts
The incumbent has regular contact with the Staffing Coordinator and Event Director.
Physical requirement’s
This Job requires an incumbent to be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 5 hours)
Schedule:
Variable hours, weekend work, and holidays.
Certification:
Obtain and maintain a food handler’s certification.
