Driver I (constant driving) at Abilene Goodwill Industries – Abilene, Texas

POSITION SUMMARY: Drives for Goodwill-West Texas on a daily basis. Safely pick up and deliver items (donated and new) for resale in various store locations. Project a positive image of Goodwill-West Texas to the public. Perform trash containment duties and maintain a clean and safe work site.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Experience driving 25 FT box truck required

Pick-up & delivery experience required

Valid Texas Drivers License with a good driving record required

QUALIFICATIONS / SPECIFIC SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE:

· Must be able to follow verbal instructions

· Relate appropriately and positively with co-workers

· Must be able to safely lift and carry 50 pounds independently

· Must be able to read and write the English language

· Ability to read and interpret maps and utilize GPS as needed

· Must be able to organize and follow a route, daily

· Stooping and bending required

· Standing for extended periods of time

· Some weekend work required

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

· Consistently drives on a daily basis for Goodwill-West Texas warehouse and stores (E)

· Responsible for coordinating deliveries and pickups from stores and assigned locations. Ensure effective use of time. (E)

· Ability to load and unload heavy items such as furniture, refrigerators, etc. in a safe manner. Use transport equipment (dolly, flat bed, etc.) appropriately and gain co-workers assistance as needed (E)

· Help with store deliveries

· Ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a positive, friendly manner (E)

· Ability to motivate and instruct Driver Helper (E)

· Must be able to follow through on instructions with little direct supervision (E)

· Must be able to prioritize and work well with all supervisors and employees (E)

· Report concerns to supervisor

· Ability to safely lift 50 pounds independently

· Must be able to walk, stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time

· Willingness to perform all other job duties requested by the supervisor

· Must promote safety at all times

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
