About This Position
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Clinical Services the Individual Clinician will be responsible for providing one-on one clinical services building resiliency, increase in mental health support, and community among all youth served at Urban Peak. This position will also assist with Medicaid documentation in coordination with their supervisor and the Wellbeing team. This position will be responsible for assessment, treatment planning and any identified individual or family sessions assigned on their caseload. This position also will be responsible for assisting, and facilitating clinical groups, classes, and activities designed to address mental health and to ensure client data collection, and file maintenance. This position will work in collaboration with the Wellbeing Team to provide case consultation, case presentation and clinical oversite of the overall client’s treatment planning as required. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff. Outcomes for this position include reducing harm to self and others through addressing trauma, mental health, and substance misuse; increased ability to demonstrate healthy resilience for coping with challenges and stresses in life; and improving client’s mental health through behavioral group settings.
This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.
Who You Are:
- A Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or a related field AND minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth
- Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker OR Licensed Professional Counselor OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or be eligible for licensure within 12 months
- Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
- Experience, competence, sensitivity and ability to connect well and work effectively with the homeless youth community
- Skill in negotiating and mediating, particularly in sensitive situations as well as some skill in crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Able to communicate effectively with a diverse population
- Able to make independent judgement and sound decisions using available information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
- Able to function work with collaborating agencies when necessary for programming
- Must be team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff
- Must be computer proficient and possess experience in MS 365 environment including Teams (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care and positive youth development
- Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle.
- Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired but not a requirement (most common languages in Denver Metro area – see HR for details.
- Must pass both federal and state background checks
- Must pass pre-employment TB screening.
- Able to manage tasks and activities in an environment that’s sometimes includes conflict and chao
What You Will Do:
Clinical Duties
- Provide clinically focused and evidence-based programming that supports positive mental health outcomes
- Provide Individual Clinical sessions and assessments in a low barrier setting with harm reduction principles by providing services and programming to meet clients where they are at
- Assist in facilitating therapeutic groups within the realm of individual training and expertise
- Provide crisis intervention and presence in milieus as necessary to support relationships with youth
- Complete data collection and clinical file maintenance in compliance with Medicaid and Urban Peak standards
- Actively works with the data team to ensure proper tracking of data, as well as program evaluation
- Work closely with other staff and agency programs to coordinate activities, providing clear and effective communication with other staff regarding clients
- Work directly with youth, as needed, to support their goals and assist them in increasing overall well-being
- Provide appropriate emergency interventions, as needed
- Provide support to other programs in emergency situations
- Help youth develop social skills, interests, and leisure time activities to provide a sense of personal worth and increase in well-being by increasing their understanding and use of coping skills
General Job Duties
- Actively represent Urban Peak in the community to people interested in the issue of homelessness for education, funding, and advocacy purposes
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
- Accompany youth on planned therapeutic group outings (e.g. recreational activities)
- Educates and trains volunteers and interns in all aspects of working with youth who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness when applicable
- Actively engage and recruit youth in all Urban Peak programming
- Accountable to all defined outcomes, both individually and team level by supporting data collection though Urban Peak database
- Works with Assistant Director of Clinical Services on securing and tracking funding for incentives

Who We Are:
Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 12 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.
Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 136-bed shelter for youth ages 12 through 24, daytime drop-in services, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more.
