Eurythmy Teacher at Richmond Waldorf School – Richmond, Virginia

Richmond Waldorf School is seeking a Eurythmist for the upcoming school year. We are willing to discuss the possibility of block teaching, semesters, or a full year of curriculum. This position reports to the Director of Education.

• Research the established eurythmy curriculum and methodologies for the grade levels being taught. Possible expansion to include early childhood ages, depending upon candidate interest and experience.
• Creates the year’s curriculum and develops lesson plans with appropriate activities to effectively instruct the class
• Prepares and presents lessons that are inspired by and expressive of Waldorf pedagogy
• Works with the class teacher and other specialty teachers to nurture the class community of students, parents, and colleagues
• Maintains positive relationships with parents and responds to all parent concerns
• Maintains positive, professional relationships with colleagues and responds to all collegial concerns
• Schedules and participates in parent conferences, as necessary
• Attends parent evenings when requested by class teacher
• Works with colleagues in faculty and section meetings
• Participates in all-school work days, festivals, and committee meetings in accordance with hourly contract
• Submits end-of-year reports
• Submits quarterly and semester reports/grades (middle school only)
• Writes student recommendations as needed
• Ability to move, read musical notation, memorize and recite poetry
• Ability to hold a class
• Maintains positive relationships with parents and responds to all parent concerns
• Maintains positive, professional relationships with colleagues and responds to all collegial concerns
• Engages in on-going professional and personal growth
• Fulfills other duties, as assigned, relative to the job responsibilities

• Ability to teach and help foster children’s development with the understanding that grades children learn primarily through imitation and imagination.
• Special attention is placed in bringing meaningful activities and movement, nourishing images and speech, and creating an environment imbued with joyfulness
• Ability to guide children toward independence, coordination, cooperation, social awareness, and a feeling of belonging to the group as a whole
• Work closely and cooperatively with grades faculty and maintain positive, professional relationships with all faculty and staff.

Required:

• Eurythmy training complete or in progress
• 2-5 years experience working with children/students
• Excellent communicator with children and adults
• Experience and education (to be determined by the hiring committee).

Preferred:

• Over 5 years of experience
• Eurythmy program certification
• Experience in a school setting

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a 40-hour per week position. The salary rate for this regular, full-time, exempt position is $41,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on exact experience and qualifications. This is a 10-month school year position beginning on or around July 1, 2026. RWS offers the following benefits to full-time staff:

Dependent upon the academic needs and the availability of a candidate, this position could be classified as a part-time position (~30 hours per week).
