About This Position
HIGH LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our wine program. We carry over 500 labels and vintages of wine and are looking for a wine expert to help our guests make the best wine buying decision possible. This person will also be responsible to maintain and grow the existing wine inventory appropriately to our guests needs.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating and updating wine lists with the chefs and manager.
- Making recommendations on food and wine pairings.
- Ensuring that the wine cellar is fully stocked.
- Informing guests on the variety of wines available.
- Training wait staff on available wines.
- Negotiating prices with vendors.
- Organizing wine tasting events.
- Complying with health and safety regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3+ years’ of experience as a sommelier at a fine dining/high volume restaurant
· Wine Certification from an accredited wine institution preferred but not required
· Excellent beverage knowledge- including beer, wine and spirits
· Excellent understanding of beverage inventory and cost management
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Team-oriented and a motivator to the FOH staff
